Assisted Places Programme Information Sheet
At St Paul’s British Primary School, we have an Assisted Places Programme (APP) which allows for a number of places to be made available at fees lower than our published fee structure.
Purpose
We recognize that parents may be in very different situations and need very different forms of assistance. For example, some international parents are “Ex-pats” on short term expatriate contracts/assignments, but only receive full employer support for Tuition Fees for certain school years. Other international parents, the so-called “Stay-pats”, may be on longer term “local” contracts and are paying all school fees themselves. We also welcome Belgian parents who are looking for an international education for their children.
St Paul’s British Primary School is, and will continue to be, an independent, fee-paying school receiving no financial support from any Belgian or other national or local governments. We will also continue to be heavily dependent on Expatriate parents whose employers pay their school fees. But we also want to support as many parents as we can to provide their children with the best possible start in life!
Eligibility
Parents who do not receive full support from their employer(s) for all Tuition Fees are eligible to apply.
Management
The APP is managed by the Director for Admissions (Chris Start) with support from the School Administrator (Angela Phanopoulos). All award recommendations are made by the Director for Admissions and final decisions are made by the APP Committee, comprising the Headteacher (Brett Neilson), the Bursar (Roger Morgan) and the Director for Admissions (Chris Start).
Criteria
The decision to award an Assisted Place is primarily a financial decision. The APP Committee will take into consideration:
- Nature and duration of parents’ contracts of employment in Belgium
- Level and nature of any educational subsidies from employers or other organizations,
- Net household income (i.e. income from all sources, after deduction of tax and social security payments)
- Number and ages of children
- Likely length of stay at St Paul’s British Primary School
- Availability of school places
A secondary consideration is whether there are any special needs or circumstances which would make it particularly beneficial for a child to attend St Paul’s British Primary School.
Duration
Normally an Assisted Place is provided for the time a child remains a pupil at St Paul’s British Primary School. However all Assisted Places are reviewed annually and awards can be adjusted to reflect any significant changes in a family’s circumstances.
Confidentiality
All communication regarding the Assisted Places Programme is in strict confidence between the parents, the School Administrator, the Director for Admissions and the APP Committee.
Further Information
If you would like to discuss whether the Assisted Places Programme could be appropriate for you, please talk to the Headteacher (Brett).
In most cases applicants will be invited to meet with the Director for Admissions (Chris) to discuss their individual circumstances.
